Gait is the cycle of contact between the foot and the ground when running or walking, from the time the foot first hits the ground to push off. Gait analysis is the study of the biomechanics associated with this cycle. Running and walking shoes are designed to meet the specific biomechanical needs of individuals with various body types and gaits. The gait analysis process helps us identify your individual running or walking traits so that we can recommend the best shoes for you.
The gait analysis service we provide at Amphibian King involves recording the motion of your feet as you run or walk on the track in our store. We are able to quickly evaluate how you land and how you push off. This process takes only a couple of minutes
In addition to gait analysis, we can help you find the right shoes by knowing:
- Your level of activity. How much do you run, walk, or jog?
- Whether you have any pain when you exercise.
- The current shoes you use. Also, how old are your current shoes?
- Any specific goals you may have.
While it's not necessary to bring in a pair of your old shoes, it can be helpful in that observing wear patterns on your shoes gives us an indication of your individual biomechanics.
The shoes we sell are designed to complement your foot size and shape, and biomechanics. We will suggest shoes based on our analysis of your foot strike, push off, stride, foot and arch shape, and level of activity. The final and most important consideration is how the shoe feels when you are exercising. You are welcome to take them for a "test drive" near the shop.
