Quest Adventure Race.

It's my 4th Week of training and following a consistent plan and I am starting to feel a good deal fitter. This week I had the small matter of my first adventure race at the end of the week. The rest of the week went very well training wise, actually hit all the sessions. Now the plan I'm following is just generic Ironman plan so there was no mention of an Adventure race in it so  instead of my long run I did a 5 hour race. Bad Bad Week. Ronald came back into my life.

Last week was a disaster, honestly I think I had more trips to McDonalds last week than training sessions. On Sunday after work I was on my way home for a long run in bray but I was hungry so stopped in Carrickmines thinking I might pick up a something sort of healthy. All the Sandwhich places were finished so ended up going to McDonalds. I did not want to run after their happy meal. Things were busy enough work wise, a few things that we are doing with the shops in Bray and Ballymount made it a busy week outside of training. We've expanded the shop in Ballymount from a small portion downstairs to taking over most of upstairs....

Wicklow Gaol Break Half Marathon.

    So having got one good week of training under the belt, I'd decided at the end of this week I'd enter a half marathon. I did this event last year and did well coming home in 1:38 I knew i'd never get that time this year but wanted to test myself and see where we were at. Swimming went well I got to 2 Titans sessions which were tough. We had a time Trial on the Wednesday so I lost a bit of time on that. My PB is 5:58 and put together a 6:10 for 400 meters. This had me pretty wrecked on Thursday but managed three sessions in that day. Friday I couldn't make 5:30am start...

What is Brecca

So when i'm chatting to people in the shop and tell them I'm doing Brecca they usually ask "what the hell is that?".    The one i'm doing is over in Jersey, and you basically swim from one island or rock to the next and when  you get to the island you run to the other side. You can bring anything you want with you to help so hand paddles are allowed pull bouy is allowed you could even bring a kickboard if you like but you have to carry it with you on the run and the rest of the way. So you're swimming in your runners and running in your wetsuit.   Brecca is on at the 9th...
