  Ok so we had another failed attempt at breaking 20 minutes. Without going into too much details about what went wrong. One thing did strike me as I was up in the 21 minute group, I was certainly one of the heaviest runners around here. Breaking 20 minutes for 5k

    So we're 4 weeks into the plan. I'll be honest I haven't made all the sessions but we haven't missed the speed sessions. There's usually about 6 of us turn up on the Wednesday night sessions 6.30pm from shoreline in Bray. The last one we did was 3k warm up and 6*800 meters. So we did this on the southern cross road in bray as there's less traffic and it's lit up quiet well in that part. The only problem is knowing distances. We thought the road was bang on 1k but turns out it's bang on 1 mile!! so the first 800 we did was actually 1.2k but eventually we got to grips with the distance. I...

It's back breaking 20 minutes for 5k

  So it's back trying to break 20 minutes for 5k. This time I'm getting support to do it, so we've opened it up to anyone to help or help themselves to break 20 minutes for 5 kilometres. I know it's not incredibly fast but for me it's a real target. Ironman Barcelona Race Report

This was my 6th Ironman so I had some idea what to expect. Signed up early Ocotober 2016 and downloaded a training plan from training peaks that started in March. With work situation training time was really at a premuim. I work for myself so work can change very quickly in this environment and when you thought you might have had a good week training something happens that calls you in and training is the first thing to get cancelled. 10 Day's out to Ironman Barcelona.

So since I've come back from Breca i've really been cramming big style especially on the bike. I'm not great on the bike at the best of times it's easily my weakest of the three and i've really neglected it this time. Having done Lanzarote and Nice bike course I think because they really scared me I trained very hard for them but Barcelona is supposed to be flat and I really have only gone past 100k 2 times whereby I cycled 110k on my own and then last Saturday went out with three "buddys" to do a long bike.   The long bike which is only my second one was torture.
